Wright College, UNE

Wright College is a new student accommodation complex comprising 3 main contemporary buildings, 2 storeys accommodating 222 self-contained student rooms, study facilities and administration requirements. It exemplifies innovative student accommodation design balancing opulence, community interaction and room orientation to landscape environment. The buildings are presented in a striking geometry derived from engaging with the site contours with existing mature vegetation retained, where possible; orientated to maximise the use of natural light and create connectivity between all building structures and the open landscape surrounds. The buildings are intended to be readily distinguishable from each other by using changes of materials, coloured panels and sunshade screens. Wright College embodies a unified design response between purpose, functionality, journey and overall experience. This project is designed to accommodate a modular building system.
